Adam & Eve's "Pin-Up Girls" is loaded with vanilla sex, but it's a good brand and there's plenty of hot fudge to give it flavor. Beautiful women, attractive sets and a Neapolitan approach to its sexual combinations give this film a touch of old-world class next to its raunchier competition. It sets up nicely, with Julian playing a pin-up calendar photographer whose erotic images provide his audience with the raw material for their fantasies. There's the counterman at an all-night diner who imagines a pretty girl walking in late one night; the mechanic surprised by the appearance of the girl in the calendar photo on his wall; and the cop making out with his pretty suspect on the hood of his squad car. Regrettably, this concept is muddled and inconsistent, but the sex doesn't suffer much for it. The film contains six sex scenes: three couples scenes, two threesomes (one of each kind) and a lesbian tryst. That pretty much covers all the conventional bases, providing the kind of variety that can keep a film from bogging down in redundancy. And it works, too, with a boost from the sets, which are, for the most part, well dressed and evocative (real, but decidedly stylized).
